I have a reputation (only somewhat deservedly) in the household for being careless with electronics. I think I fall in the middle of the spectrum, but when your husband is holding the flag on the anal-retentive end of the scale, the spectrum tends to shift. He's a photographer and, as I've learned, cameras and lenses and light meters and photo doo-dads are usually very expensive so he is right to be protective of them. I recently inherited his laptop which isn't super-fancy, but is an upgrade for me. The laptop prior to this was also one of his hand-me-downs and I did beat it up a bit - one of the screen hinges was loose; the cord became so twisted that it actually began to smoke one day; and the screen had a few scratches. For the new laptop, my husband gave me a chamois cloth to cover the keyboard and protect the screen which I begrudgingly agreed to do, but it was too large and kind of ugly. So I sewed up this cheery, reversible keyboard cozy with squares from a Freshcut charm pack. This is something we can both live with.
